The Cybils Awards aims to recognize the children’s and young adult authors and illustrators whose books combine the highest literary merit and popular appeal. If some la-di-dah awards can be compared to brussels sprouts, and other, more populist ones to gummy bears, we’re thinking more like organic chicken nuggets. We’re yummy and nutritious.

Panelists and judges for the Cybils Awards include parents, librarians, educators, authors, and illustrators who blog regularly about children’s and/or young adult literature. There are 10 categories of Awards, with a nomination period that begins October 1 of each year. What makes the Cybils process unique and amazing is that the books are nominated by people just like you who read books with the children in their lives. Learn more at
