Math & Reading – an Intermission

Cady is busy this week, so we don’t have a new article in our Math & Reading series. That said, I came across this great MUSE FLASH at Rasco from RIF last night. Among all the great links sent to her, is one that fits in with our math literacy series.

Last week, Sesame  Workshop (nonprofit educational foundation of Sesame Street) launched a ‘Math is Everywhere’ campaign at the Field Museum in Chicago. From Gary E. Knell, President and CEO of Sesame Workshop:

Math Is Everywhere will highlight everyday experiences at home, in school, and at places where children are on the go,” said, Gary E. Knell, President and CEO of Sesame Workshop. “We are excited to continue our partnership with PNC providing parents, caregivers, and educators with developmentally and educationally appropriate information and resources to support and extend young children’s exploration and understanding of early mathematics.”

The PNC Foundation is donating 40,000 of Happy, Healthy, Ready for School – Math is Everywhere activity kits to supplement pre-K math in two preschool programs in Chicago. The program is available in English and Spanish.  You can also enjoy videos and more at  sesamestreet.org/math.
