A Very Special Snowflake
It is snowing like crazy. Jeff and Veronica are excited and want to take their new puppy Snowflake outside. Where did she go? They saw her tail, but then she disappeared. Every person they asked for help only heard part of what they said. No one understood they were looking for their dog. Where did that puppy go?
Everyone from preschoolers through second grade will enjoy this light-hearted story about a puppy and a snowstorm. The illustrations are colorful and the book is just the right length for reading by new readers. The characters are very friendly.

My 3 year old LOVED this book, even in the heat of the summer! He loved looking for the puppy on each page. (Although, after a few readings, it was not difficult!) My 5 year old liked the book, too, but it was a little easy for him. I would not recommend this book for ages above 5 years, unless you have THEM read it to a younger child.
I thought the book was cute, but the concept was not very typical for our area/town. (We live in a reasonably rural area.) The adults these kids encountered would not be typical for us. Nevertheless, the illustrations are brightly colored and very fun, particularly in the white uniformity of winter. My kids LOVED looking for the puppy on each page. Developmentally, this is a great book for ages 2-3, maybe 4 years. Just the right amount of words on each page.

This is largely a story meant for sharing. Use the illustrations to play hide and seek with Snowflake. You can stretch it to talk about safety or camouflage. This is a fun story for a wintry day. The writing is perfect for emerging, remedial and transitional readers. The illustrations will engage pre-readers in the story, as you can hunt for Snowflake in each picture
