The book is filled with excellent graphics. The photos make the reader feel he knows Brooks’ family, friends, and teammates. The narrative is generally aimed at the juvenile reader and should have strong appeal among that readership. This is a motivational biography that hits its mark.
As helpful as the graphics are for presenting the story and characters in the book, there are sections of the narrative in which the sports jargon gets too technical for the average 10 - 14 year-old to comprehend.
This is a motivational piece with a lot of visuals to keep the junior high schooler's attention. The intent is excellent and the book fulfills its purpose.
This is a biography for teens.
Readers have the opportunity to explore perseverance, motivation, and ALL of the elements that contribute to one's success.
