Amy's Travels
Amy's father travels for his job and she has lived in lots of places. In this story, she introduces the continents and the countries she's lived in, describes their culture, and offers some basic words in other languages (mom, hello)
Large illustration and type combine to make this an engaging book for elementary readers.
The reading level is well above the intended audience. This would be a book parents read with their child.
Our daughter was eager to chime in with this story because she has been studying continents this year (second grade).
This is an easy way to introduce kids to different countries. Because Amy focuses only on the places she's lived (or wants to visit) kids aren't trying to memorize huge amounts of information. The curriculum suggestions in the back are excellent and will help parents. I would have liked to have seen higher-quality illustrations and more of a "my brother and me" perspective to engage boys, too.
This illustrated story is sized to be an easy reader.
This is an excellent complement to elementary geography. There are opportunities for map reading, learning the continents, and countries, too. Curriculum ideas in the back expand the learning.

Borrow. This is a nice book, but once kids master the content, they'll be ready to move on to something else.
