Bathtub Blues

Summary:

After a full day of playing outside, it's time for everyone's bath. We follow along with four children of different hues who get their time in the tub!

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

The lively illustrations will entertain youngsters too young to follow along with or read the words. And the words! Well, you just know there must be a song to go with them; they are metered and we know we are getting "down and dirty (to) sing the bathtub blues."

Content Awareness Factors:

None.

Little Kid Reaction

Parent Reaction

I am prejudiced for anything with a blues beat but I have to think everyone will love the CD that comes with the book. It isn't long--just a few minutes--but the words will be easily memorized by youngsters and the beat irresistible.

Type of Book:
This is a book that uses humor to help children who fear taking a bath, as well as those who love the water so much they jeopardize their safety.
Educational Themes:

In addition to helping kids deal with fear or remember safety first, it's a nice way to introduce the idea of music as a cure-all for one's fears.
