Now that night is here, all of the bats have come out to play. With a full moon rising, the bats collect their gear and head to the beach. Where people have left off - and left things behind - the bats enjoy a night at the shore.
Kids (and parents) will instantly recognize their own beach excursions in this story about a night-time adventure at the beach.
"Oh, yeah!" The cricket-legged marshmallow on the book cover sealed the deal when we asked our daughter if she wanted to read this book. For the last week we have been reading this book and its partner book Bats at the Library each night. Each time, our daughter chimes in a little more with the text.
The Bats at series is clever and fun. We have enjoyed reading this with our daughter, both taking turns to recite the story. The rhyming scheme makes it easy for her stay with reading, even if there are words she doesn't completely recognize. The story reminds dads of Snowmen at Night, another what-happens-after-dark adventure.
This picture book shares a bat adventure at the beach.
This is a story to be shared with a child. Even the hints at people littering the beaches are too subtle to build into a theme.
