Oh, no! It is almost time for his holiday party, and Bear is not ready. Readers join him as he explores the Christmas market and other shops to get everything he needs to host his friends! There are so many things ... everywhere Bear turns he needs your help to find the right item.
Seek-and-find books are always fun. Holiday-themed activity books have always been a great way to harness some of the excitement and bring focus for a little bit in our house. The author does an exceptional job balancing text to guide young readers to help bear. His approach is better than many we've seen over the years. Although he begins the book calling it a "Christmas party," the items are general enough for those who enjoy December holidays that aren't Christmas.
I would caution against accepting "preschool" as the reader for this book (as described on Amazon). Yes, some 4-year-olds will find this book enjoyable and fun, but some may find the illustration-dense pages frustrating. You know your child best.
Kids will love helping bear find the objects he needs, and exploring some of the scenery and the other animals, too.
The pages are crowded with objects. While it may not be overly difficult for some kids to find the object, others may get frustrated or overwhelmed easily. You may also discover that there are a few too many "find" pages and that they test your child's patience.
This is an activity book with a holiday theme.
The story helps guide readers on what thing to look for on each page. It is a great way to practice critical thinking skills (i.e., eliminating the objects that don't match what's being asked for).
