boot weather

Summary:
Kim wants to go outside but it is raining. Her father says she has to wear her boots. She is very excited as she likes to imagine she is different people doing fun things. She imagines the sliding board as a big mountain and her boots turn into spike boots. She then climbs into a hole and imagines she is climbing out of a man hole and wearing work boots. She spends the day having fun while wearing her boots.
Educational Themes:
There are several themes here. First, you don't need to have someone else around to have fun. Second, using your imagination can be lots of fun. And third, no matter what the weather or where you are, you can make it fun.
Reading Level:
2.1
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
7 to 9
Recommended Age To Read Together:
3 to 8
Age of child:
Read with a 6-year-old girl.
Purchase Recommendation:
Borrow, at least. This is a great book for a library and it might be nice to pull off the shelf at home when you hear "I'm bored." I would buy this book for any child especially an only child or someone moving to a new place who will not know a lot of kid
Little Kid Reaction
My daughter picked this book. She liked how the girl was playing alone but found so much to imagine and still had fun.
Big Kid Reaction
I really liked how the author shows the young girl using her imagination. This is a fun, quick read! I could tell she liked it the first time she read it because she talked about the girl a lot and came up with other things the girl could have played while she was outside.
Pros:

This is a fun story about using your imagination to enjoy the weather or scene around you no matter where you are.

Cons:

None.
