Brontorina Apatosaurus is a ballerina whose dream it is to dance. She joins Madame Lucille's Dance Academy but runs into a very large problem. She's got the drive and the shoes, but will she and Madame Lucille be able to find a studio big enough to hold her and her talent?

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

Bravo! So many pros for this book: the story, the protagonist Brontorina, the overall theme of the book, and the beautiful illustrations.

Content Awareness Factors:

Little Kid Reaction

I initially selected Bronterina but they asked for it a lot. My kds really enjoyed it. Since the story combined two of my daughter's favorite subjects: dinosaurs and ballet, I knew this book would be a success. There are some sillier parts in the book which went over very well.

Big Kid Reaction

This is one of those books I did not get tired of reading. The illustrations are beautiful and the narrative is sweet and funny. There are several asides in the book in the form of conversation bubbles or jokes in the illustrations which kept it entertaining for me as well.

Type of Book:
Humor, compassion, and creative thinking are the core of this picture book for young audiences.
Educational Themes:

That everyone should be able to do what they love was attractive to me as a parent and serves as a helpful way to teach children not to be afraid to follow their dreams, despite setbacks.

Reading Level:
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
8 to 10
Recommended Age To Read Together:
2 to 8
Age of child:
Read with children ages 2 and 4.
Purchase Recommendation:
Buy. This is one of those standalone books that kids can return to over again. The dual theme of dinosaurs and ballet ensure that it is attractive to and in line with many kids' interests.
