Carolina's Story: Sea Turtles Get Sick, Too!
Carolina the Sea Turtle is sick and is rescued from the beach. She is treated at an animal hospital and, when healthy, is released into the wild.
The book is interesting, with nice photos and easy to understand text.
Three times it explains that she didn’t like a certain treatment, but was too sick to do anything about it. So many repetitions of these comments made her seem extra pitiful.
My child was curious and asked a lot of questions. He liked the last page that teaches more about sea turtles via interesting facts.
This is a great example of non-fiction that is in a story format. Photos were taken throughout the turtle’s time with the rescue team, and it gives an authenticity to the story. I learned about sea turtles, too.
This is a picture book describing animal visits to the doctor.
The book lets you talk with children about Sea Turtles and the beach; veterinarians and animal hospitals; and contrast illness and doctor visits for humans.
