Coconut's Joke Book (American Girl)
This 4-inch by 4-inch book is filled with jokes that kids will love. The variety includes classics that kids know, new jokes, and different types of riddles. Coconut, a dog character in the American Girl series, is our emcee.
This illustrated collection of jokes and riddles is perfect for kids who love to laugh, particularly reluctant readers.
Some jokes may need explaining because of the double and triple meanings of words and phrases.
It took a while for our daughter to warm to these jokes, and she enjoyed them a lot more after she could read them herself. Now, she picks up the book every couple of weeks and will re-read some of her favorites to us.
I was surprised that it took so long for our daughter to get into this book. We don't have any American Girl stuff, but the book doesn't really get into that. Now, it's fun to hear her giggle and come running from her room after she has rediscovered a joke that ticklers her funny bone.
This is a small book that is perfect as an easy reader or selection for a reluctant reader.
This is a book for fun reading. It is a good selection for dormant readers because the text is short and there is lots of "white" space on the page.

Borrow. This is fun and kids will re-read it, but after a while they will have them all memorized ... and you'll be tired of them by then, too.
