Road trip! Greg Heffley and his family are heading out on an adventure. Greg's mom Susan plans their trip so that they can visit many different places. They visit a county fair where they win a renegade pig; a hotel where there is a family that is out for revenge; and a seagull that joins the family and never stops looking for food ... in the car! Their road trip (as planned) is a disaster, so they decide to go where the road takes them.
The crazy disasters that happen on this road trip will have everyone laughing (even you, Mom!).

The book's cover gives you a clue that this road trip is going to be a disaster (that plus it is The Diary of a Wimpy Kid!). Yes, the trip is actually a disaster. There is humor for all ages, which is a good thing. There are some very ridiculous situation - like a renegade pig wanting to leave the fair. What I don’t like is that Greg occasionally gets sidetracked in things that have no relevance to the plot. Overall, kids 10 and up will enjoy this book a lot. I would recommend this as a gift because kids will read it over and over.
The Long Haul is the ninth book in the long running Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series.
This is a book meant to be shared \"just because.\" You might think about planning your own family trip or sharing funny stories about family adventures, but its really just fun to read.
