everyday prayers

Summary:

In this collection of nine illustrated prayers, children will find familiar verses ("Jesus Loves Me") and new ones, too.

Educational Themes:

You can use this book to celebrate your faith and help children develop their reading skills. There is an illustrated vocabulary list at the front of the book to help emerging readers connect images and words.

Reading Level:
0.7
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
5 to 8
Recommended Age To Read Together:
4 to 8
Age of child:
Read by girl nearly 7 years old.
Purchase Recommendation:
Borrow. This is a nice book to help a child celebrate their faith "in their own words," but it is a developmental book that they will outgrow.
Little Kid Reaction:

Our daughter enjoyed selecting prayers and reciting them. More often than not she wanted to set them to her own tunes, which helped reinforce the reading, as she wanted to sing the verses again.

Big Kid Reaction:

We liked having a book that offered more sophisticated prayers, such as "All Things Bright and Beautiful," but which she can begin to read independently. This is a nice blend of traditional prayers and original ones. The illustrations are lovely, as well.

Pros:

Children learning to read will take pride in being able to recite new prayers.

Cons:

None.
