Little Kid Reaction

The littlest reader loves seeing all the pictures of the trains and train paraphernalia. When our now first-grader was two or three, he was pronouncing his first Japanese word, shinkansen ("bullet train") based on reading this together.

Parent Reaction

If you like trains, you'll read this at a much deeper level. Each page has a summary paragraph that tells kids what's on the page; older kids and much older kids will read every word of every caption to absorb every detail in this fantastic book.

Pros:

The history, the details ... it's everything we come to expect from the DK Eyewitness Books series.

Cons:

None.
