fancy nancy sees stars (i can read book, level 1)

Summary:
Fancy Nancy’s school class is going to the local planetarium. They are studying the different constellations and are going to meet there to look at the stars at night. On the way to the planetarium, it begins to rain. The rain shuts down the roads and they don’t make it. When Fancy Nancy’s family gets home they set up chairs outside so they can look at the stars together. The next day at school the class finds out no one made to the planetarium so the teacher has scheduled it for another evening!
Educational Themes:
This is a book meant for early readers (first grade), so there is lots of vocabulary repetition. Fancy Nancy stories often demonstrate the value of being flexible and that good things happen, even when you don't plan them that way. You can draw out some of the examples from the book to talk about star gazing and go out in your own backyard.
Reading Level:
1.0
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
6 to 9
Recommended Age To Read Together:
4 to 8
Age of child:
Read with a 5-year-old girl.
Purchase Recommendation:
Borrow. Fancy Nancy fans will want to read this adventure. The I Can Read format make it less collectible than other stories, though.
Little Kid Reaction:
My daughter picked out this book because of the name and the fancy cover. She asked questions about the stars they talk about in the story. She also got very concerned when the storm stranded the family.
Big Kid Reaction:
I enjoyed the story. I liked how it doesn’t go like a perfect story would. Being flexible is a good life lesson.
Pros:

Beautiful pictures, a nice lesson, and fast reading make this a perfect selection for pre-readers and emergent readers.

Cons:

None.
