A little girl talks about how she likes her walks with Grandma. Except Grandma wants to stop, look, and listen to everything: birds, ants, bunnies, geese. When the little girl spots a creature Grandma didn't see, she wants to stop, look and listen. So who's the slowpoke?
Beautiful, soothing illustrations bring out the natural scenery of the plot and the love in the story. An excellent choice to share before a walk in the woods, at the lake, by the river, or on the shore.
None. There was a point early on in the book that I was expecting Grandma's health to be a contributor. It is not, and that is something you may want to prepare for with young readers.
This is a sweet story, and I can easily see it being a favorite to share with Grandma. Its lessons in patience and observation are presented in a way that kids can understand. The perspective of the "slowpoke" changes, making it reflective, too.
This picture book shares the joy and shows readers how to slow down to look at the world around them.
Drawing on this story of a little girl and her grandmother, ask your children what kinds of things they like to do with grandma, or if they have a favorite memory. The story is also a wonderful how-to for taking a nature walk. There are descriptions / facts for each of the animals in the back. Use these as a "guide" in looking for these animals in your area.

Buy. This is a book that would make a lovely gift for grandmothers. It would also be nice for children to have, possibly with grandma reading to them.
