Having Fun! (Just Like Us Series)

Summary:

This is a lift-the-flap book. On each page, two animals are playing together. You lift the flap to see two toddlers doing the same thing. This board book series uses flaps and simple language to engage toddlers in sharing a book.

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

Colorful illustrations, flaps, and animals get kids involved in reading. The diversity of animals and kids with different skin colors and disabilities also add to the depth of the book.

Content Awareness Factors:

This is not a series where you read more than one book at a sitting.

Little Kid Reaction

My son loved manipulating the flaps and the animals. We read together several times and he also read it on his own.

Parent Reaction

I like that my son could see how children interact in a positive manner. The colorful illustrations and the interactive nature of the book kept my son focused and encouraged him to pick up the book on his own.

Type of Book:
This is a board book with flaps to engage toddlers and preschoolers in discovering the story.
Educational Themes:

Even though the audience is toddlers and preschoolers, you can help them understand relationships, tolerance, and (implied) acceptance of children who are different from you. The images model good "friend" behavior using animals and kids.

Reading Level:
0.0
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
4 to 6
Recommended Age To Read Together:
0 to 4
Age of child:
Read with 2-year-old boy.
Purchase Recommendation:
Buy. These are great books. They may not be classics but most board books show wear after 1 or 2 kids, and these are sturdy. The themes will also continue to grow with them for several years.
