Young Reader Reaction:

We liked this book! We have a hermit crab that we purchased in Nags Head, NC. I didn't know that stuff about it. We have another hermit crab we found in our yard. It was wearing a shell that used to be a necklace! It's a book we want to read again. I picked it up because I wanted to learn more about my hermit crab at home, and I really liked it.

Parent Reaction:

As a kid, I thought hermit crabs were cute, but we never got to bring one home because we wouldn't know how to care for them. The illustrations feed that need to give a "pet" a personality. You also get a good story and lots of facts, too.

Pros:

This book has awesome "watercolor" pictures and great facts.

Cons:

Student: I wanted to know what happened to the tree snail.
