Our narrator is a child speaking to your child. First, she acknowledges that they don't want to go to bed, but then she suggests that they look at their parents. They are tired, and it is now your job to help them get ready for bed.
Buy this book for every new parent or 4-year-old you know. It is delightful, spot-on, and funny. The pacing is perfect, offering a great message to kids and a reminder to parents (stay calm, no surprises). The author does an exceptional job with the narrator's voice in speaking kid-to-kid. I also love how she "aged up" the distractions (phones) and behaviors (snoring).
This is a picture book we would have read a kazillion times when my daughter was younger. I can't recommend it enough. It is going on my shortlist of picture book gift ideas.
Young readers will nod and giggle and ask "can we read it again?" Parents, you will love it too.
None. Just be warned that your kids might want to read this to you and have you follow their instructions!
This picture book is a reverse take on the tactics kids use to avoid going to bed.
Ask your kids to tuck you in one night! What fun for them to be in charge and great for you to see what they do/don't like and what parts of the routine they understand and which ones they don't.
Have fun with it ! Comply a little, comply a lot, then just say "no." Be sure to talk about it afterward so you can help them make sense and internalize the learning.
