Adorable and sure to garner some hugs.

Summary:

A bear cub explains why it loves Daddy. From doing parenting things to playing together, the cub shows how Daddy is there and takes care of it from sun up to sundown.

Parent Perspective:
Need a gift for a dad-to-be or new father? This is it. I would have loved to have had this book when my daughter was an infant and toddler. The illustrations are lovely, and there is just enough activity in the illustrations that a toddler can see "action" without being overwhelmed. The book is well-sized for little hands and sturdy enough for them to handle, too.

What makes this particularly special to me is that the cub is neither a he nor a she. It is the narrator, so it can be any gender ... and so can Daddy.  Highly, highly recommended. This is a book kids will see themselves reading!

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

The pages exude love in ways that make the reader and listener feel all cuddly. Bonus: The cub and Daddy are rendered without gender!

Content Awareness Factors:

None.

Type of Book:
This board book celebrates the bonds between a father and child.
Educational Themes:

The story explains the different things a parent (in this case dad) does in one day's time. Even toddlers will recognize the activities, so spend some time just letting them look at the page. There are several spreads where there is an activity that goes beyond the text. For example, there is an illustration of the bears watching two birds and their baby and a family of frogs sitting on rocks. Ask your child about the different animals and their sounds.
