"This book is awesome, Mom." Our child didn't wait for us to ask if she wanted us to read this book. She jumped at the chance to read this book to us!
This is a great story wrapped in an easy reader book jacket. There is plenty of white space, lots of vocabulary repetition, two friends, and some classic humor. A simple color scheme and no background scenery, combined with simply illustrated characters, make it easy for new readers to jump in and enthusiastically tell the story.
This is an emerging-reader story to engage new readers.
Although this is largely meant to be a story to help emerging readers feel confident, you can talk about friendship, too.
