Parents share the things they would keep doing if their child stayed young forever. Then they contrast that with the joy they would feel and the accomplishments they would miss now that their child is growing and can do things on their own.
It is hard to say who will love this more - parents or kids. I love how the book draws on things we did for our infants and toddlers and celebrates what our preschoolers and elementary-aged kids have accomplished for themselves. Emotions of remembrance and joy jump from every scene. The illustrations aren't replicas of the words, creating an additional layer of experience for readers. You are sure to get an "ew" over putting ketchup with grapes! I'm betting that's the page that will bring your reader back to this book again and again.
Everyone will love this book that celebrates the special moments of parenthood and growing up. It embodies the joy and love we feel for sharing of ourselves and indirectly helps kids recognize their part in growing up, too.
This picture book shares a parent's love about the push-pull of watching their kids grow up.
Enjoy this book cuddled together. As you read, you might highlight specific events that relate to your family. What was your favorite lullaby to sing? What was your toddler's favorite to book? Etc.
