i'll be there

Summary:
A parent offers words of reassurance to a child who is wondering how the parent loves him when they aren't around.
Educational Themes:
The book is useful in helping to convey that love is carried inside us, and that even when we don't SEE someone, we can remember them or think about them.
Reading Level:
0.0
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
5 to 8
Recommended Age To Read Together:
1 to 4
Age of child:
Read with child nearly 3 years old.
Purchase Recommendation:
Borrow. If there's a dad who travels a lot, this is a good story to help explain what he wishes he was doing!
Little Kid Reaction:
This one got a lukewarm reaction. When it was pulled from the shelf, s/he would come sit and listen quietly. It was not, however, one that was requested, nor did s/he take any interest in the illustrations.
Big Kid Reaction:
The parent's selection of events are exactly those that mean the most to a child: playing together, exploring together, learning new things. It is a nice read, but wears out quickly.
Pros:

Younger kids will connect with the events described in the times of day the parent says he'll be there.

Cons:

The illustrations (watercolor photos) can seem blurry, and the border makes the presentation distracting,.The missing parent is very obviously a dad, so the book may not work for explaining how mom will be there.
