It's Just My Imagination
If you see this boy doing strange things, don’t worry, he’s just pretending to be a rock star or the President of the United States!
This book has a good concept and theme: you can be anything you want to be.
This is difficult to read. The rhymes are forced and some of the text is confusing. This is a book for kids who are at least in kindergarten or first grade and exposed to elementary school concepts; but the idea is geared for younger kids. Per Amazon.com, the reading level is 9 to 12 (4th grade and up), but kids at this level wouldn't be attracted to this book.
Neither boy was interested in reading this book. I selected it, and we talked about it, but they were unresponsive.
Although, I appreciated my sons being exposed to the idea that they can be whoever they want to be, the overall concept was inaccessible to my sons. Not because of the content, but the text was underwhelming and the illustrations are not very impressive.
This is a picture book story about imagination.
You can use the young boy's choices to talk about ambition and imagination. Dream high, reach for the stars, and don’t stifle your imagination!
