Kitten Up A Tree
Little David came out to play, and the kitten ran up the tree. Every time someone came by the tree to help, the kitten ran up a little higher. Every day for a week, David put out a fresh saucer of milk. Finally, the kitten came down.
This picture book is a confidence builder for emerging readers. Kids will get involved in the story and forget they are practicing their reading.
None.
Our daughter enjoyed reading about the kitten, pausing on each page to add an "oh, poor kitty," and look at the cat in the tree.
This is a picture book for an emergent or early reader. The language is simple, with plenty of practice of basic words. The author effectively inserts words (like days of the week), without drawing attention to the opportunity to practice them. The illustrations are simple, but colorful. Because David's expressions are so clear, kids will connect with him and linger over the book.
This is an easy reader picture book.
This is a story filled with sight words and opportunities for kids to gain confidence as readers. The story itself creates an opportunity to talk about cats, fear, helping others, and patience.
