A kitten likes to get cuddles (hugs) from his different friends. Each friend gives a different kind of hug. When the book starts, Kitty asks the reader who we think will give him his favorite hug. In the end it is from his new baby brother.
This picture book reinforces kindness for preschoolers. Kids love books with animal characters, and this is a great one.
Our daughter picked this and we read it several times. She liked how the cat got to hug a lot of different animals. The book describes how different animals feel. She kept asking me to describe something else that would feel that way. She wanted to understand what each animal felt like.
I liked that hugging was the main story line. You always hear about hateful things people do, so it was nice to read a book and show my daughter that being kind is a good thing.
This is a picture book that talks about hugs.
Everyone is made different, whether we have different color skin or are different sizes. You learn about the texture of different animals. You see that hugging is a normal way to express caring for someone, and that it is fun to share a hug.

Read with 4-year-old girl.
Borrow, at least. This is a good book, but it will lose its charm over time. Libraries are sure to have this book because it shows kindness towards others.
