Learn Along With Lily
Lily is a goat who talks to you about a variety of preschool themes. Learn about colors, shapes, people in your neighborhood, animals on the farm, counting.
If you're looking to present concepts for preschool-aged children, this book offers them in a cartoon style.
The presentation is ineffective for the goals, and the length is something to consider given the attention span of the intended audience.
My son picked this book and requested it often. I was surprised when my son sat through the whole story. (I was bored by the end of it.)
Unlike my son, I didn't like this book. While I liked that my son learns these themes, I felt the text was not very clear in presenting them. The author seemed more interested in making rhyming words work rather than clearly presenting the information in a manner accessible to the child. Although my son enjoyed the book, I am not sure he got the messages that were attempted. It was also a LONG book with a LOT of words to be read in one sitting. You could definitely pick it up and read just a section at a time without losing the story; each page or page spread dealt entirely with a single theme, and the themes did not rely on each other for support. I guess, in that sense, it was not much different from reading several shorter stories.
This is a picture book that teaches children basic concepts.
This is a book you can use to prepare kids for preschool or to complement what they are learning about colors, shapes, people in your neighborhood, numbers, and zoo/farm/desert animals.

Read with a 3-year-old boy.
Worth a try! Any book that a kid will read can be a good thing! And given how many times my son requested it, he clearly liked it.
