Logan's Journey

Summary:

Logan shares with us the story of how he came to be part of his family. He tells us the story that his Mom and Dad have told him about his adoption.

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

Kids will like this story because they get to hear it from the adopted child (v. parent). Parents will find that this book helps them convey in simple terms what we try to say in too many words. For families adopting boys, it is a treasure, because contemporary books with boys (v. gender-neutral animals) are hard to find.

Content Awareness Factors:

If infertility is not part of your adoption journey, you may/may not find this book to be the one you want. Logan also knows about his birth mother, but the book does not overplay the circumstances around her choice.

Little Kid Reaction

Our daughter enjoyed listening to the book, but was particularly interested in flipping and studying the illustrations at her own pace. She turned to them again and again, sometimes asking questions about her own life.

Parent Reaction

We are an adoptive family, and this is a wonderful story. The illustrations are wonderful, and will take you back to those memories of their newborn days.

Type of Book:
This picture book describes how adoptive families come to be.
Educational Themes:

This is a story to be shared for the enjoyment of celebrating being a family. It does open the door to talking about your own personal journey and will be helpful for the adopted child who is beginning to ask questions.
