Little Monster wakes up with a roar and is ready to spend time with dad today! Different kinds of father-son monsters share the activities that filled their day: skeletons playing catch (in the graveyard); Frankensteins in a tickle fight; ghost musicians; and Yetis building secret hideouts; and more! After a busy day, it is time for dad to tuck the little monster into bed and say "good night."
Parent Perspective:
What a great Father's Day or father-son gift this would be! I was expecting a Halloween-y book, but it is not. This is a fun story about fathers and sons - albeit monsters - spending time and having fun together. There are a couple of spots where humans don't seem to be happy about the fun happening around them. The emotions are conveyed through illustration only, and kids are sure to find them humorous. They'll also love spotting Little Red Riding Hood walking through the forest, too.
Highly recommended as a bedtime story. Although the author uses "son" in the title and some of the references, girls who like spending time with dad can easily be take the young monster part.
Happy monsters and wonderful father-son moments come together in this lovely bedtime story. Although the title is Father and Son, the little monsters are generic enough to be interpreted as daughters, too.
None.
Rhyming verse conveys all the things different types of father-son monster pairs do together.
Talk about what you see in the book. Ask your child what things to the father and son monsters do that you do? Then ask what other kinds of things you like to do together ... or maybe plan some time together for the near future.
