A story that's music to your heart!
Mac is a millipede with lots of arms, legs, and stage fright! He has always wanted to be in the Soggy Bog Talent Show, but he is too scared to get on stage by himself. This year is going to be different! Mac decides to join a band, so he won't be on stage alone. As he makes his way to the audition, he comes upon various groups and tries to join in. Although they love his talent, Mac doesn't fit in with the orchestra of ants or a cat jazz band; and the bird choir thinks he'll make a great meal! In running away from the birds, Mac lands smack dab in the middle of the stage, under the bright spotlight. What's a millipede to do?
Parent Perspective:
This is such a fun story! Kids will instantly relate to Mac's fear of doing something new all by themselves at the beginning, and then being one of the cheerleaders at the end when he is on stage. I love that the author brought the various musical groups back and encouraged Mac to use the particular talent he had shared when he tried to join them.
Readers will cheer for Mac and share a laugh as he tries to join the various musical groups. The illustrations are wonderful and add to the fun. The first time through, readers are sure to be surprised by the birds' reaction to Mac.
