my brave year of firsts, tries, sighs, and high fives

From big to little, a young girl shares the great accomplishments of her life ... from her point of view.

This is a story to be shared just for fun. With kids beyond first grade it is a chance to walk down Memory Lane.

3.2
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
8 to 10
Recommended Age To Read Together:
3 to 7
Age of child:
Read by a 10-year-old girl. Also read by the Teen STAR Review Team, Be the Star You Are!™
Purchase Recommendation:
Borrow at least. This is fun to share and enjoy those cuddle-with-your-kids moments.
Little Kid Reaction:
10YO: Our daughter has read and loved all of the Jamie Lee Curtis books, so she jumped at the chance to read this one. She loved looking back at her own "firsts" as she read and spent lots of time exploring the illustrations. She was frustrated by the idea that this is a book for first graders but they couldn't read it themselves.

Teen Reviewer: The book is fantastic for beginning readers, as they can learn that they can do a lot of different things and they do not always turn out the way we hoped. The reader also will realize that not all choices are fun. I would definitely recommend My Brave Year of Firsts to beginning readers, as well as a read aloud in a pre-school or Kindergarten. It will inspire the young readers to not be afraid to try new things.
Big Kid Reaction:
This is a great book and I thought it would be too young for my preteen. On the one hand it was too young, yet she enjoyed the story and also connecting it to her own life and that's always fun to watch.
Pros:

Kids will laugh and parents will "aw" in this story with universal appeal.

Cons:

None.
