Mama and Papa Monster create dish after dish for their baby monster, but it is a VERY picky eater. Frizzle frazzle? Nerp. Mushy gushy Bloobarsh? Nerp. Picklefishy verp? That is a definite "nerp." Baby Monster isn't the only picky eater, but they are too busy trying to get their kiddo to eat. Then, all of a sudden, they hear a slurp. What did baby monster pick?
Fun, fun, fun. Kids will enjoy the silly-sounding words and recognize "nerp" as nope. The foods sound gross, but the drawings are cute. It is very easy to read the story without reading a word, but why? They are fun to say, kids will love the yuck facor, and they will want to learn them, too!
The illustrations are great, too. The background of the dining room is a set of cardboard/egg carton chairs and the neon-ish illustrations are "sketched" onto the foreground. Lots of empty space on the page help "absorb" all the bright colors and won't overwhelm little eyes looking at the images.
Recommended for toddlers and preschoolers who will find the story relatable and hilarious. Buy this one! Once they figure out which sounds go with what page, they're going to want to read it themselves.
Silly words and adorable monsters. Kids will be wanting to read this one over and over again.
This is a picture book about two picky eaters: a baby monster and the monster family pet.
Read for fun. Because of all the made-up words, it is a great opportunity for your listener to hear all of the ways letters make sounds. Be sure to add emotion to the voices to enhance the sound effects.
