Everyone loves elephants but do you know how indispensable they are? From finding salt and water in the dry season to keeping the grasslands clean and seeded to carving walking paths and creating fire breaks, elephants save the other animals from a harsh climate. If humans don't protect them, all these contributions will just be ... once upon an elephant.
Young Readers (4, 6):
This may be one of their favorite books ever. They requested it repeatedly. I was surprised by just how much they loved it. Usually they prefer funnier and or sillier books and this is a more straightforward read. However, they preferred this book over all the others.
I liked this book, too. It was educational but compelling enough to get them to enjoy it.
Great illustrations combine with a repetitive and easy-to-grasp narrative structure to engage readers in learning about elephants. The book offers an age-appropriate conservation message.
This is a nonfiction book that introduces conservation and global awareness to children.
There is a lot of nonfiction content to explore in this picture book about the importance of conservation and preserving nature. Search for other books about elephants with young children, and with older kids talk about ways to make a difference to help protect the earth and/or elephants.

Buy. I would have thought that this was better as a library book, but my kids loved it so much I would buy it for them and also as a gift.
