patterns / los disenos

Summary:
Each page of this book is represented by some type of pattern (dots, stripes, swirls), as well as pictures to show examples of the pattern (e.g., scarf, zebra, cinnamon roll). Each picture has the English and Spanish word for the picture written below it.
Educational Themes:
There are plenty of different pattern types to explore. I liked the pages with sqeuences (red leaf, green leaf, brown leaf, red leaf, green leaf, brown leaf ... what comes next?). They were a little advanced for my 4-year-old but would e great for a Kindergarden class.
Reading Level:
0.5
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
4 to 8
Recommended Age To Read Together:
3 to 6
Age of child:
Read with two boys, 2 and 4 years old.
Purchase Recommendation:
Borrow. This is a book that can help kids with learning, but it does not have a story, and as such, has limited shelf life.
Little Kid Reaction:
My 4-year-old liked identifying the objects. My 2-year-old liked the animals. They did learn a little bit about patterns.
Big Kid Reaction:
I liked this book Okay. I liked that after introducing the patterns there were some pages with applications of what you learned. For example, which pattern is on each animal?
Pros:

Colorful pictures and simple presentation will engage young children in exploring patterns. This is a bilingual book, so you can expand their vocabulary, too.

Cons:

Several of the patterns were ambiguous, like wiggles and squiggles.
