This is a good book to interest kids in history.
None.
My daughter picked this book because the title interested her. We have read it several times. She enjoyed learning about the different kinds of animals that people had as pets. She was surprised because she always thought they only had cats or dogs. She enjoyed the part where they talked about a goat and sheep. She said that was really cool that they had different animals there, not just cats and dogs.
I enjoyed how simple it was for kids to understand and yet still interesting for me as an adult. I was surprised she liked it so much as it was just about pets but it really interested her to read about a place like the White House having all these different kinds of pets.
This is a nonfiction picture book that offers a history of pets at the White House.
This is a nice "back door" way to introduce kids in elementary school to history and government.
