Rairarubia (The Rairarubia Tales, Book 1)
Molly and her dad decide to create a fantasy story. Molly is intrigued by two characters, Sam and Romey. As the story unfolds, she becomes magically involved in their adventures to the point it is affecting her health. Technically she can end the story at any time, but can she let Sam and Romey down?
The book has some things 5th graders will like. The chapters are very short making it an excellent bedtime story or read aloud book. This author knows his audience and is superb at his craft.
I don't like the ending. The book ends with too many questions, so we’re supposed to buy the next one to find out what’s going on.
This fairy tale with a kind of modern gimmick almost worked for me, but not quite enough because there are too many loose ends at the close. I feel too manipulated by the first one to bother with the next.
The book grabs the reader on the first page. The characters are engaging, the plot holds the reader’s/listener’s attention. They’ll want more … and the author has been good enough to add three more books to the series. I hope he can make lightning strike three more times.
This is the book that launches Molly's adventure to another land.
This book offers a positive family model. It is a genuinely wholesome family, with interaction of Molly, her Dad and Dr. Mom throughout. The author subtly reveals the mutual respect, care, concern , joy and love they have for one another.

Buy. This book would be a great addition to the personal bookshelf of any 8-12 year old. Hopefully, the librarian and middle school teachers would have access to a copy of the book. It's a great read and one to which readers will return more than once.
