Martha lives with her mom, dad and brother. No one in her family trusted her, so she couldn't do anything. Her brother got all of the attention, so Martha did good things to prove she could be trusted.
Shifty has a good story line and everything makes sense.
There were a lot of hard words.
I picked this because I like drama books. The book surprised me. After the first chapter I thought it would be boring, but it wasn't. I liked Shifty this book because it shows what it would be like if you were in the same situation as Martha. You could do what she does to gain trust.
This is a coming-of-age novel with a child in foster care as the main character.
This is a good selection for independent reading, small group reading, or book clubs.

Borrow. This is a good book. I have a friend whose parents don't trust her so she could get some tips from Martha.
