Soul Searching

Have you you ever paused at a party and wondered, ‘What am I doing here?” Perhaps you’ve stopped in the midst of an activity and asked yourself, “Am I having fun?” Have you just felt empty? Have you ever questioned the meaning of life? Have you ever thought…I’m not happy; life is not satisfying? If you answered yes to these questions, your soul may be sending you a message. Your soul is searching for you and you should be searching for your soul before the two of you get too far apart.

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

This is a quiet book that grabs teens in subjects that interest them and allows them to reflect on their thoughts without fear of judgment. It reaches them where they are.

Content Awareness Factors:

Although some of the themes and questions have universal appeal, non-Catholics may find the book frustrating at times.

Little Kid Reaction

Soul Searching is similar to many of the other self-development books that are published today. With interactive questions and advice, Dr. Yeager allows each reader to respond to the book on a more personal level. Each page is short, but always contains thought provoking statements and aphorisms. This book causes the readers to consider every aspect of their life and become re-inspired to live their lives as they have always envisioned it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Soul Searching. It gave me great pleasure to be comforted of life’s simple joys and motivated me to become a better person. The one aspect of this book that I couldn’t connect to was its religious ties. As a non-Christian, I found myself wishing that I could relate to and understand the religious references located throughout the book. If it weren’t for the religious allusions, I would definitely suggest this book to high school readers and anyone older.

Big Kid Reaction

The reader’s initial expectation of Soul Searching is that the book is just another self-help guide. Readers will be happily surprised to discover that by answering a few simple questions, they are engaged in a simple, effective, and thorough process of personal self-renewal.
