I think they related to Splat's reluctance to do a household job. They thought the story was really funny. They really liked the parts where Splat rushes through cleaning his room.
I enjoyed this book. I like the lesson it gives about turning chores into games and accomplishing your goals.
This is a story that introduces kids to the idea that helping is part of being a family.
Splat could be your child's role model in helping to introduce the idea of chores to preschoolers and Kindergartners.

Borrow. This is a cute book and it could be used as a teaching tool, but it didn't grab my children's attention after a few readings.
