Take A Backyard Bird Walk (Talk A Walk Book Series)
This handbook provides the non-bird watcher with the tools and information to help them spot, identify, observe and understand the behavior and habitat of birds they observe in their neighborhood. Like others in the series, it is a compact paperback that fits easily into a hiking bag. The text is clear and concise, the layout complements the process of taking a bird-watching nature walk, the bird reference photos are excellent, and the graphics are superb. There are simple descriptions of birds to look for, tips on when and how to find the birds, as well as plenty of space to take notes.
This is really exciting. I recommend this book for the entire family. This book is an excellent handbook and a valuable tool for those contemplating conducting nature and ecology walks. Science teachers, adults who are involved in scouting, after-school programs, day camp programs, or parents who are home-schooling children etc. will find this book to be an excellent tool in planning and conducting a nature or ecology walk. The guide is an interactive handbook which the students can use as a reference book, take field notes, and practice techniques of spotting, observing, understanding, and identifying local birds and their habitat.
None.
As a bird lover and developing adventure seeker, this was the perfect book to help me begin identifying birds. Just yesterday I rescued a bird that was tangled in a light fixture and I identified it as an American Goldfinch from seeing the photos in this book. There are web sites to visit which I know will help me in this new hobby. I really really like this book.

Buy a copy and keep it near your kitchen table so you can enjoy watching the birds as you eat. You might even start planting trees and bushes to attract them.
