The Bear's Song

Summary:

Papa Bear is snoring. Afterall, it is hibernation season. Little Bear can't sleep. He is distracted by a bee; and bees lead to honey! Papa Bear awakes and finds Little Bear gone. The adventure begins in the forest and ends at the Opera House.

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

There is something for everyone to love in this beautiful, unique story about a dad and his child. Every spread has a "can you find little bear" quality.

Content Awareness Factors:

For some young readers, the pictures might be too busy and distracting.

Parent Reaction

The size of the book and colors caught my eye, but it was the illustrations that had me turning pages. I also loved that it was a father-child story. The narrative is okay, but the pictures also tell the tale. This could easily be used as a wordless book.

Type of Book:
This oversized picture book offers readers lots to explore as Papa Bear searchs for Little Bear.
Educational Themes:

This is a story with lots of visual appeal. You can explore the pages with your reader to talk about the different "scenes" within a picture. There is a child-gets-lost theme, and you can talk about that, too.

Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:

Purchase Recommendation:
Buy. This is a lovely book that will be read and explored lots of times. It is an exceptional choice as a gift, too.
