Pushed out of the nest when just a young barn owl, Soren is kidnapped and taken to the mysterious, St. Aegolius Academy for Orphaned Owls. Soren and his new acquaintance, Gylfie fight against evil that threatens all of the owl Kingdoms.
This book inspires the reader to never take anything at face value, to always question when something seems amiss, and to follow your heart and your own values, despite all odds.
There is lots of excitement and action in this book. Who would have thought that a book with owls as the main characters would be exciting, but it is. I couldn’t put it down and couldn’t wait to dive into the next one in the series.
What a marvelous read! This is a creative and imaginative piece of work that weaves the behaviors and characteristics of owls into a wonderful work of fiction. I haven’t read something that has caused me to want to run out and get the next book since I started the Harry Potter series. This book is inspiring, uplifting, and will captivate readers. This is a must read for anyone wanting to read brilliance at its best.
Gylfie and Soren begin a destiny that unfolds in a series of young reader books that will leave the reader wanting more!
If simply read for learning about owls, children will benefit from the significant research on their behaviors and characteristics. Still, there is plenty to explore on the themes of perseverence, family, courage, valor, self-esteem and trust.

Buy. If you can’t buy it, then borrow it from a public or school library. This is a must-read and would be a wonderful book to buy and pass down to siblings as they reach middle-level reading.
