Mike Majlak (the author) struggled with addiction in his early life. For 10 years as a drug addict, he faced multiple near-death experiences and was let go of by family and friends. The story begins in high school, where his addiction started and continues through the journey of the effects on his life. It ends with how he turned his life around and is now a major influencer.
Teen Volunteer Reviewer (16):
This is a very powerful, inspirational story very inspirational because he begins with high school life, the beginning of his addition, its effects on his life, and ends with his story today. After getting the book, I could not stop reading it. In fact, I finished it in an entire day because of his compelling story. It is compelling and attention grabbing, and I would read this again. It is one of the best books I've ever read.
I would highly recommend this book to those who want to read an inspiring book which will tag them along the way.. It does contain explicit details that may not be suitable for young readers
The author's story is enlightening, compelling, and interesting. Readers looking for a powerful, inspirational book willl want to read this.
This biography contains explicit details about drugs and drug addition that may not be suitable for young readers. There is also profanity.
This is a memoir about a man who turned his life around after drug addition.
From the "ugly truths" of addition to believing in oneself, there is a lot to take away and discuss in Teaches how people in the worst situations can really turn their life around in The Fifth Vital.
