A Book on Kindness

Summary:

One night a young boy sees something flickering around the edge of the night sky. His Grandmother tells him that is the man made of stars. He goes to work every night with a bag and a lantern. Every night, the boy looks for the man and sometimes thinks he sees him. One day the boy sees the man pulling the light out of his bag and throwing it into the sky. The man says that when a person is nice to another person, a bit of kindness spills over and creates a star. They are everywhere and a part of everything.

Little Kid Reaction

My daughter loved it, though I'm not sure she totally understood all of it. She was fascinated with the pictures. I was not surprised my daughter likes this book. It is gorgeous, mysterious, and fun.

Parent Reaction

I loved The Man Made of Stars. The message the book delivers is much needed in this world. The pictures are incredible.

Type of Book:
This is a folktale-like story about stars.
Educational Themes:

The story has a folktale-like premise, but is a great story about character education. This is a nice way to close the day (or maybe at dinner) asking your readers about their acts of kindness that day.
