As a girl and her father run errands in their old blue pickup, she discovers how many different ways they can use their truck. They buy tools and she realizes it is like a tool shed. They have a snack in the truck and it is like a restaurant.
This fun story about a father-daughter outing helps parents show kids how running errands can be an adventure.
The author doesn't give the little girl a name so it may be harder for some children to identify with the character.
My daughter picked this book because the cover has the girl in the blue truck with her father and she liked that they were out together. She liked the drawings as they were colorful and yet simple. She enjoyed that the little girl got to spend time with her dad while he was busy doing his chores. In the story they pick up a pig to take home. When they started singing on their way home, it reminded her of something we do. She said it was fun to read about another family doing that.
I liked this book because it shows a father and daughter together; these kinds of the stories are typically boys with their dads. I liked that it showed all the things a truck can haul and how much a Dad has to get to help make the outside of your home look nice. I was surprised when she went and read it later by herself again, it showed how much she did like the story.
This picture book helps kids to think creatively about how things work/what they do.
Parents will love showing kids that spending time with them can be must as much fun doing chores as at the amusement park! It also illustrates how kids can help with chores, and also gives kids a chance to look at an object in different ways. The little girl gave new names to things as the function changed. Ask kids what they would put in the truck and call it.
