the secret science project that (almost) ate the school

Summary:

Drat! Everybody has their science project picked out. Our narrator is stuck ... but what? When she saw an ad that will guarantee her first prize, she jumps at it. She is so excited when the box of Professor Swami's Super Slime arrives that she ignores the warning: Do not open until the science fair. Then she learns why: a snarky word from her sister? Poof! Sister is gone. Dad asks about the nasty smell? Chomp! He's gone too. Is this science experiment too good to be true?

Borrow, at least. This is a wonderful story that pre-readers will howl at and young elementary students will connect with (especially when it's science fair time!).
Little Kid Reaction:

Our daughter brought this home from the school after listening to the librarian read it with a class. We read it a few times, and then she started reading it ... poring over the pictures looking for the "eyes" in the slime. We can't get her to take it back to the library.

Parent Reaction:

Judy Sierra has a wonderful knack for words and humor. She understands her audience, their sense of humor, and their love of the absurd. We had lots of fun sharing this book together.

Pros:

Great illustrations and school mayhem combine for a story guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.

Cons:

None.
