The Woollyhoodwinks Vs. The Dark Patch

Summary:

It's been a busy day, and now it's time for the Woollyhoodwinks to go to bed. Everyone is ready to sleep except Fluke. He is afraid of the dark. Just about dawn, the 'Winks are awakened by noises and discover a dark patch stitched to the ground. As each brave Woollyhoodwink tries to make it go away, the patch eats them up. Fluke is the last Hoodwink left. Rescuing his friends is up to him. Can he do it?

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

Photos of the characters, each with a personality, add to the fun of sharing this book about being brave.

Content Awareness Factors:

Little Kid Reaction

My daughter loved the little stuffed characters. She also would offer comments as each Woollyhoodwink tried to eliminate the patch: "That won't work" and "uh-oh" were frequent additions to our reading.

Parent Reaction

This is an adorable book. The surreal elements of the patch might be a bit to oblique for some kids, but the stuffed creatures and their props will make up for that. The character names are unique, adding to the fun of reading, too. I love how the author stayed true to the "fabric" of the story, stitching the dark patch to the page.
