The Zombie Chasers
Zombies aren't real, right? Zack Clarke is on his way home expecting a "normal" Friday night. Boy, was he wrong! The zombies have taken over Phoenix, Arizona. Now it is up to Zack Clarke, his best friend Rice, and his older sister Zoe's mean friend Madison Miller to defeat the undead. That is, if they don't kill each other first!
Lots of action and 'yucks' grab readers from the get-go.
None, really.
The first thing our reader did was check out all the illustrations - the more undead, the better. She abandoned this book about half-way, but then came back to it after reading book 3, Sludgement Day.
The story paints a very vivid picture that grabs readers' and listeners' attention. The author strikes the upper-elementary funny bone spot on, and we had many "mom, listen to this ..." moments while our daughter read.
This is a lightly illustrated chapter book for preteens.
If you r-e-a-l-l-y stretch it, there are some lessons in friendship and tolerance. Mostly, though, this is a book for fun reading.
