Time For Kids: Frogs! (Science Scoops, Developing Reader)

Summary:

Facts about frogs and plenty of pictures make science accessible to emerging readers.

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

Kids will get some much-needed non-fiction and still have time for "yuck" and "cool" as they learn about frogs.

Content Awareness Factors:

Its a little odd to see Jim Henson and the muppets in the "Spotlight." It just doesn't fit.

Little Kid Reaction

Our child liked sharing this book, and quickly absorbed the frog facts. The pictures helped add interest when it was our turn to read. She wanted to read this several times.

Parent Reaction

We shared this book as partners, with our child reading the main text, and us reading some of the sidebars (like frog anatomy). We were surprised she wanted to read it again, as she usually prefers stories.

Type of Book:
This is a series book written for developing readers.
Educational Themes:

Kids can expand their vocabulary as they read and with a glossary. They'll also learn lots about frogs.
